Palliative Care: Evidence from European Collaborative Research
Die Vorlesung findet auf Englisch statt und diskutiert Forschungsergebnisse zur Palliative Care in Europa.
Prof. Sheila Payne will highlight the contributions of international collaborative research to the palliative care agenda in Europe. The challenges and opportunities associated with three currently completed projects funded under the European Commission Framework 7 programme will be introduced and reflected. These studies have used a number of methods including cluster randomised trials, retrospective surveys of deceased patients, mapping organisational development in nursing homes across Europe, and organisational case studies. This talk will argue that an approach which is derived from the social sciences and prioritises the perspectives of patients and carers, provides a strong foundation to have an impact and improve care. These projects seek to address the practical, personal and social problems facing dying patients, families and healthcare practitioners. Prof. Sheila Payne will conclude by reflecting on ways to strengthen international collaborative research.
